• The iPhone Discoveries Continue... Health Apps

    Ok, so I mentioned a couple of months back that I finally got on the bandwagon and got an iPhone and I have to say, I am beyond stoked about it. I mentioned a few getting-in-shape apps that I had come across, but since then I have discovered so many more! Did you know there’s an app for practically anything you can think of? Street maps, locating your nearest happy hour, home improvement tools? It’s kind of crazy. But here’s my favorite category of apps – Health apps. Who would’ve ever thought a few years back that you could monitor your health through your phone? I mean, weren’t we all just concerned with cell phones giving us cancer? Now they can actually help you improve your health? Well anyways, check out these awesome personal health apps:

    Fight Anxiety –’s free Custom Breath Pacer is an awesome tool to use next time you find yourself starting to get tense at work. The app helps you focus on relaxing your breathing. And we all know that it is so important to practice deep breathing when stressed because it helps lower your heart rate and blood pressure.

    Take Your Yoga to Go – If you are someone who is always traveling around and don’t have a lot of time to pop in to your local yoga joint, this app is perfect for you. The All-In-Yoga HD app is only $3.99 and gives you access to a library of 25 yoga videos, available in both beginner and expert versions. But that’s not the only cool thing. You can actually personalize your yoga workout with this app. It uses an algorithm based on your goals, skill level and time to design the perfect yoga workout for you. There’s also a ton of instructional videos for all those poses that may seem foreign to you. Pretty cool, huh?

    Don’t Get Burned – Ok, so this one’s not really an app but really more of a cool idea. Being a San Diego local, I know that if I go 20 minutes without sunscreen I turn into a lobster within 5. The bad thing is, I seem to forget this on a routine basis. And skin cancer is an all-too-common phenomenon nowadays. For only $4.95 a month you can sign up at to receive routine text messages reminding you to put in sunscreen. And honestly, it really does make a difference seeing that friendly reminder everyday.

    So friends, if you haven’t already, seriously check out all the apps and cool things you can do with your smartphone. Marketers are coming up with some pretty clever stuff…. Who knows? Maybe there will be a Vitalyte app someday soon…

  • The Tri-Phase Affair, Part 3

    So recently, I have been talking about Vitalyte’s new product – Tri-Phase Endurance.   • Muddy Buddy Ride & Run

    To all of our Partners in Grime, we welcome you to the 2009 Muddy Buddy Ride and Run Series! This unique trail running and biking race is sure to be fun and challenging for everyone. Both beginning athletes and experienced racers alike will have a great time along the course and through the obstacles, especially in the infamous Mud Pit! We can't wait to see you there, so grab a buddy and prepare to Get Dirty.

    Race Description Each race features a 6-7 mile course and 5 obstacles. At the start of the race, one team member will run and one will ride the bike. At the 1st obstacle, the rider will drop the bike, complete the obstacle, and begin running. The runner will arrive, complete the obstacle, find their bike, and begin riding. Teams will continue leapfrogging each other through the entire course. At the end of the race, racers will crawl through the infamous Mud Pit crossing the finish line together!

  • La Jolla Half Marathon

    The La Jolla Half Marathon is one of America's most picturesque and challenging runs. Starting adjacent to the Del Mar Fairgrounds main entrance, the course follows a scenic route along the coast before reaching the challenging climb to the summit of Torrey Pines State Park. After leaving the park, the course continues the beautiful residential district of La Jolla Shores, and finishes on the grass in the park at La Jolla Cove.

  • San Diego Mud Run

    THE SAN DIEGO MUD RUN is back for another round, offering a challenging 10k, an exciting 5k race, and a Youth Mini-Mud Run (1k) filled with obstacles, hill climbs, trail runs, and of course - plenty of mud to fill every "mudder's" desire! Sign up early, space is limited.

    COURSE & CATEGORIES: The Mud Run is a challenging 10K run with hills, tire obstacles, river crossings, 4-foot walls with mud, tunnel crawls, slippery hill climbs, and 3 mud pits. Race individually, within multiple age divisions, or as a member of a 4-person team.

    RULES & START TIME: 12:00pm Start. The course and all obstacles must be successfully completed to qualify for prizes. Teams are 4 participants. All team members must cross the finish line together for the team to qualify for prizes.

BNP Paribas Open is an ATP Masters Series and Sony Ericsson WTA Tier 1 tour event. It is the 5th largest event in attendance next to the four Grand Slam tournaments. Held in the second largest tennis stadium in the world (stadium capacity: 16,100) at Indian Wells, CA, the BNP Paribas Open showcases the combined talents of both the best professional women and men tennis players. It is the world's fifth largest tennis event, and features a purse of over $5 million. The WTA Tour (women) main draw includes 96 top professionals (plus 48 qualifiers) and will compete over a two-week period. The ATP (men) main draw expanded in 2004 to a 96-draw, ten-day event and will compete simultaneously with the women.
