At Vitalyte one thing we love about mom's is the encouragement they provide. Those famous words, "You can be whatever you want to be!" Or even, "You can do whatever you put your mind to!" We thought a lot about those sayings when we were thinking about our brand identity. After many hours around the think tank and countless of mom's homemade cookies, we finally came up with what we felt embodied our brand, our ideal, our lifestyle. What Vitalyte are you? Are you the weekend warrior who just feels out of sorts if Sunday goes by without a few miles run on the pavement? Or are you the busy on the go young working adult who squeezes in a six am yoga class before your hour long commute? Whether it's cardio that calls to you or you crave the calm, we have a Vitalyte for you. So what do electrolyte replacement drinks have to do with getting to the office on time? Well we feel that you can't be the best you in this world if you aren't properly hydrated. Science knows that a properly hydrated body is better equipped to handle stress, has quicker motor skills and sharper mental functioning as compared to a body that is dehydrated. So next time you roll your eyes at your mom when she asks, "When you are going to have children already.?" You can calmly smile and say, "I love you mom. Remember that time you told me I could be doctor if I wanted to?"

It’s that time of year when the hard courts of Melbourne are finally recovering from two weeks of tough play and clay courts world-wide are being prepped and groomed for what will be a great season. Yes tennis is back and ready to take center stage this spring. As history books tell us, long matches such as the iconic Michael Chang win over Ivan Lendl in the the fourth round of the 1989 French Open, often reveal the winner after all is left on the court. Who can forget the young American rallying back from two sets down, cramping so badly he was forced to serve underhand. He frustrated the world’s number one and eventually won the match and went on to win the tournament, becoming the youngest male ever to win a grand slam title! Boys and girls everywhere watched the grit and determination this teenager from Southern California displayed. Chang was one of many great young American players at that time: A sassy rebel from Las Vegas named Andre Agassi was on this list. So was the steady Los Angeles resident with cat-like moves called Pete Sampras. And who could forget the student of the sport from Dade City, Florida who would also go on to be a world number one, Jim Courier. These greats inspired the boom in youth tennis and are in-part responsible for the resurgence of American tennis we see today. Fortunately the boys and girls on-the-rise in this great sport have many resources available to them including: State of the art surfaces to play on, advancement in racquet and string technology and of course the best that sports nutrition has to offer. At Vitalyte we are proud that many great junior players enjoy our product. Spencer Brachman who recently placed third in the Boy’s 14’s at the prestigious Orange Bowl and Tristan Boyer who is ranked number one in California both enjoy Vitalyte and understand the importance of being properly hydrated. Vitalyte’s forty year proven formula is free from anything artificial and is a great kids electrolyte replacement drink. So whether your child is a teenage phenom or looking to improve in the rankings, we have the perfect hydration formula for you to help them follow in the footsteps of the American legends!

We are so thankful that we have this product to help keep our team healthy in the hot humid conditions in Haiti.Missions International of America takes several education, medical and construction teams to Savanette, Haiti every year. Today's modern athletes have all the latest and greatest resources available to them to ensure they are making the most out of their natural ability. From precise golf swing analysis to discovering the benefits of altitude training for runners, science is helping athletes throw farther, jump higher and run faster. The science of hydration though, hasn't changed much over the years. We know, as we have for many decades, that even a slight amount of dehydration can significantly impact performance. And we know water alone is not enough to properly hydrate the body during activity. An athlete needs a constant supply of electrolytes during activity to help stay adequately hydrated and stave off fatigue. While sports beverages were developed to help athletes combat dehydration, many contain high amounts of sugar and sodium and are made with artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners. A high performing body can't be at its best if it isn't getting the best fuel. That's why at Vitalyte we make our electrolyte drink mix with non-GMO ingredients and we use only natural ingredients as a sweetener. Plus our formula is free from anything artificial and is low in sodium. So while science should take center stage in creating football helmets that are more protective and turf that is more shock absorbing, we think nature should play a big role when it comes to the modern athlete's electrolyte drink.

Sleep, eat, hydrate. Hydration ranks up there with life's most important activists. Because the brain is the most sensitive organ in the body and is comprised largely of water, it's the first to experience the side effects of dehydration. Even at just 1% loss of fluids, our mental focus can be comprised! The second most common side effect of slight dehydration is irritability. So this explains why after your third cup of coffee at the office you find your concentration levels slipping and your tolerance for your cubical neighbor waning. Finally you "feel thirsty" and head to the water cooler for a much needed break. This is a sign that you have lost approximately 3% of your optimal fluid level. Yes, our thirst reflex doesn't usually kick in until our body experiences a 3% loss of liquid. And any way we slice or dice it, coffee, caffeinated beverages or alcohol don't account for "fluid." They may be liquid but are not the type of liquids that a body needs for optimal hydration. In fact, our favorite roast or spirit actually dehydrate our bodies.
So what is the answer to this liquid conundrum? Electrolytes! And not just any pinch of sodium and dash of potassium will do. In order for the body to be properly hydrated it must have the proper ratio of electrolytes available. That's where Vitalyte comes in. For over forty years we have been committed to providing thirsty bodies world-wide with an isotonic sports beverage that works quickly and effectively. Isotonic means that a fluid can be absorbed directly from the stomach into the blood stream, by passing the need for digestion. High sugar, high sodium sports beverages require digestion. But because Vitalyte is made with mostly glucose (a sugar that doesn't require digestion) and low levels of sodium, our solution gets to work quickly to do what you need it to do, hydrate! In fact Vitalyte is so fast-acting it is absorbed within minutes. That's why search and rescue teams in the Grand Canyon have used it to help treat dehydration.
Rapid, effective and free from any artificial ingredients, Vitalyte is committed to addressing your hydration needs with science and concern. So when you want to run that extra lap, bench those additional reps or stay late at the office answering emails, we will be there for you. Stay healthy, stay happy, stay hydrated and drink Vitalyte.
The History Behind Vitalyte Electrolyte Replacement Drink
With all the fabulous advancements in genetic testing it's so easy now to find out "where you came from." So at Vitalyte, we thought our consumers might be a little curious about "where we came from." Here's a little about our history and who is behind that great electrolyte drink you mix up for every tennis match.
Our founder is a man named Bill Gookin. A biochemist by trade and runner by heart, Bill created our electrolyte formula to meet his hydration needs. He made, what he felt, was the ideal drink! His formula had all the essential electrolytes in the exact ratio that the body wanted. Bill started small, running his company out of his garage, and eventually grew as more and more people tried and loved his "Gookinaid." As the business evolved Bill realized it was time for a new name. He felt that his formula was "vital" for optimal hydration and it was an "electrolyte" drink mix, hence the name "Vitalyte."
Those of us who work at Vitalyte are sports enthusiasts. Whether its spending an afternoon on the golf course or a solid 45 shooting hoops, an active lifestyle is a common thread that unites us all. We continue to champion the values that Bill layed down over forty years ago when he founded the company: Provide the consumer with the best product on the market and give them the best value. And we do that! Our product is free from any artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners and we utilize non-GMO ingredients. Plus we offer more product for a much lower price.
So we hope that you've enjoyed getting to know us better. We thank you for being a part of the Vitalyte family and we'd love to hear your Vitalyte story!

Leaves are changing colors, suddenly soup sounds like the perfect thing for dinner and your flip flops have been replaced with your boots by the front door. At Vitalyte we love the subtle entrance that Fall makes. But don't be fooled by this tiptoeing giant! He packs a mighty punch when it comes to plummeting temps and the effects that cooler weather can have on your hydration levels. Yes, that is correct! Colder weather can cause dehydration. Usually hot weather is associated with dehydration, but when the mercury falls your body does require electrolytes just as much as it does during a sunny day. Plus when it is cold and dry, the lack of moisture in the air requires more moisture in your body to counterbalance the dry air you are breathing in. So go ahead and curl up with a mug of your favorite tomato bisque. We will be waiting with a tall glass of electrolyte replacement right next to that perfect grilled cheese so you can stay hydrated.
Vitalyte Electrolyte Replacement at the North American Orienteering Championships
Where would we be without our iMaps, Google Maps, Waze and other helpful navigation apps for our smartphones? Whether you need to find your way from the office to a local auto repair shop, or from home to that little beach cottage five hours north, modern technology makes our oil stops and road trips more efficient and less frustrating. But, I have to admit, I remember the days when you needed to pay attention to how you got somewhere so you could get back. Like Hansel and Gretel but without the breadcrumbs! Not having had the convenience or brilliance of a true smartphone until my mid-thirties, I relied on learning from my mistakes to help my navigation scores improve. After all, proper nav ability was a form of modern day survival skills. My game became so sharp, and word of my acquired talent spread so fast, that my friends would call me in a teary-eyed panic from their flip phones while I would ask the pertinent questions like, "Did you pass the three story building with the purple balcony across from the donut shop yet? If you did you, you went too far." I literally steered my peers away from crying fits and panic attacks and I lost count of how many job interviews I rescued from the perils of "I'm going to be five minutes late, this looks so bad?" But alas my need diminished and my demand dwindled with advancement in technology and the app phenomenon. I could still find my way out of an un-named alley like nobody's business, but what did it mean anymore? I thought my skill was, well like the pay phone, a great thing but no longer relevant! But then I was told that, at Vitalyte, we were going to be sponsoring the largest orienteering meet in North America Orienteering?! I was quite intrigued and impressed when I learned about the combination of mental sharpness and physical fitness that was involved in the sport. Not only do participants have to navigate through challenging terrain using only a compass and map, but they have do so with the swiftness of a world-class sprinter, the alacrity of a top rated fitness competitor and the endurance of champion distance runner. A sport that calls on unassisted mental acuity, focus and athletic skill. It was like a math quiz with no calculators allowed! I was sold! "No wonder these athletes are reaching for Vitalyte," I thought. Our electrolyte replacement drink is perfect for orienteering athletes who require glucose to keep their brain power sharp and essential electrolytes to keep their bodies functioning on all twelve cylinders.
This September the North American Orienteering Championships will be held on the campus of the prestigious Dartmouth College. Hundreds of the top competitors in the sport will take part in this event that showcases some of the world's elite. Vitalyte will be on hand to help keep all those taking part hydrated and safe. And I will be watching feverishly to learn a few tips from the best, sans smartphone style!
