My name is Cielo and I am a firefighter/EMT.
I began racing in 2010 after being t-boned by an SUV while cycling. It took me a year to walk again and I now have a titanium tibia and screws but I feel fortunate to be active and able to do the things I'm able to do. It hasn't been easy but I now run 5ks to marathon distance races, often in my firefighter turnout gear. I also do firefighter stairclimbs in full gear on air from my airpack. I enjoy challenging myself to even greater distances and am inspired by the stories of the people I meet at the events I do.
Vitalyte is invaluable to me because with the amount of fluids I loose racing in gear I need to stay constantly hydrated with something more than water. The electrolyte replacement mix goes easily in my hydration pack and keeps my electrolyte levels balanced. It makes my races almost easy so I can focus on having fun and getting to the finish.
Much of my drive to compete is fueled by the fundraising I do for various cancer organizations. I have lost several friends and family members to cancer. I work with a charity Code 3 For a Cure Foundation to raise funds for firefighters affected by job related cancer. Firefighters are up to twice as likely to get cancer because of our work. I feel passionate about health and fitness and am grateful for the support Vitalyte gives me.
